SLIM DUSTY'S UNFINISHED SYMPHONY

“ Columbia Lane - The Last Sessions” goes Gold !

EMI Music Australia , Slim Dusty's record label for near-on 60 years, on March 4 released the final recording sessions the country music Master was working on, virtually right up to the eve of his sad passing on September 19, 2003 . The album, within a month of it's release, has gone on to achieve GOLD status.

Slim was determined, regardless of his failing health to record a new album, possibly knowing it could be his last. Like everything else Slim did during his career he was always Looking Forward, he had a belief that each new album he commenced was to be better than any predecessor.

Even after all the possible accolades, millions of sales, multi-platinum awards and a record 106 album releases, he never lost that belief and dogged determination …Slim set out to achieve his best and his most ambitious yet even down to his 107 th album…regardless of any annoying ill health!.

Sadly, Slim didn't quite finish his album but without doubt what was recorded is some of his best material of his career.
With that belief in mind it was decided by both the family & EMI Australia , regardless of Slim not finishing the album, these last recordings were so strong that his many fans should have the opportunity to hear the Master's ‘Unfinished Symphony' completely as it was recorded. The resulting mini album appropriately titled Columbia Lane – the last sessions. ‘Columbia Lane' was Slim's nickname for his beloved home studio named after the laneway Slim ventured down many times in his early career days, on his way to the old Regal Zonophone / EMI Homebush Studios in Sydney.
The SPECIALLY PRICED mini album features 7 definitive new Slim recordings including songs from some of Slim's favourite songwriters including James Blundell(Nature's Gentleman), John Dohling, Ace Fender and Don Walker (Get Along …the last Slim recording).
The first single from the album “Answer to Billy” went to #1 on the country charts and the new single “Blue Hills (in the distance) has just gone Top 10!

Slim Dusty …..THE LEGEND CONTINUES.
