The Slim Dusty Centre is about to welcome its first residents.
The Centre in South Kempsey is not yet complete, but the Slim Dusty Foundation will relocate there in the coming weeks to oversee its fit-out and eventual opening.
Slim Dusty Foundation Interim CEO Kathryn Yarnold said there were mixed feelings ahead of the move.
"I guess there's the excitement of seeing the building come up, coupled with the pressure of getting it ready to open," she said.
It will be at least six to 10 more months until the Centre opens to the public, with a great deal still to be finalised.
"We're working with Regional Development Australia at the moment, formulating our Operations Plan," Ms Yarnold said.
"The plan covers our first three years of operations, our business principles as well aswhat needs to be completed between now and opening."
The Slim Dusty Foundation has been operating out of a shop-front in Kempsy Mall since early 2009.
Ms Yarnold said the Foundation would be without a shop-front for a short time until an access road to the new Centre is completed.
"But we'll still be selling merchandise over the phone or via the website," she said.
