SIX YEARS AND STILL GROWING

For the sixth year in a row, fans of the late Slim Dusty have the opportunity to remember his magnificent talent right here in his home town of Kempsey at the Slim Dusty Country Music Memories night.

In conjunction with the Slim Dusty Foundation, the Rotary Club of Kempsey West is proud to host this annual event that will be held on October 31st this year. From humble beginnings, this concert has increased in popularity each year and continues to attract artists of such a high caliber that it is a must see event on the Country Music Calendar.

Following the success of the introduction of the afternoon concert last year, gates will again open at 2pm at the Kempsey Racecourse for the afternoon entertainment, followed at 6pm by the evening concert. As with last years concert, this year will be another marathon of talent, auctions, entertainment, music and memories.

Each year the crowds continue to come, with visitors reaching from as far afield as Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand as the popularity and the chance to see the family of Australia’s most celebrated and awarded Country Music Legend, Slim Dusty perform becomes a more widely known drawcard that is not to be missed!!

The members of the Rotary Club of Kempsey West, under the guidance of event coordinator Bruce Woods, have compiled yet another magnificent program this year kicking off at 2pm with the always popular Salvos Country Band followed by the talents of the wonderful Clelia Adams, 2008 NSW Dual Gold medallion winner.

After such a spectacular afternoon concert, the evening will not let you down!

Keep those toes tapping as the evening showcases Jeff Brown, 2005 Golden Guitar Bush Ballad of the year winner and the outstanding talent of Kempseys own, Amos Morris, 2008 & 2009 Golden Guitar Bush Ballad of the Year winner.

Headlining as always will be the “Dusty Family” with Joy McKean, the wife and partner of Slim Dusty for over 50 years and their children Anne and David Kirkpatrick supported by the always popular Traveling Country Band.

This calendar event for country music fans as presented by the Rotary Club of Kempsey West who will as always, have the event running smoothly with auctions and raffles of exquisite red cedar items handcrafted from the timber originated from Slim’s Nulla Nulla property as well as full BBQ facilities available with BYO drinks. The Rotary Club of Kempsey West are a community minded organization and the effort and professionalism in which they present this Country Music evening is indicative of the spirit they exhibit in all the community programs that they participate in.
As a community organization, the Rotary Club donate all proceeds of the evening towards the development of the Slim Dusty Centre in Kempsey NSW.

If you are visiting Slim’s hometown from out of the local area, it would be a great idea for you to get a group together and make a weekend of it! We already have bus companies that bring guests to the night so why not get a coach load of fans and ask your own local bus company about arranging the trip.

The Macleay has many wonderful beaches, wineries, arts and craft shops and spectacular hinterland areas to visit, especially Homewood, the boyhood home of Slim Dusty at Nulla Nulla. What a wonderful way to finish the weekend after listening to country music at its best and remembering Slim,  to then spend part of the weekend viewing his old stomping grounds and experience for yourself the valley that he loved so deeply.

Tickets to this outstanding concert are limited, and at only $30 each will go fast, so please call Bruce Woods on (02) 6562 4795 to enquire or buy your tickets directly from the Slim Dusty Foundation office on the corner of Belgrave and Clyde Street, Kempsey.
