| This money was raised at the Slim Dusty Country Music Memories held on the long weekend in October last year at Bruce and Trish Woods' property east of Kempsey. |
| The event idea was put forward by Bruce Woods, a member of the Kempsey West Rotary, and this was taken up by the members in support of the Slim Dusty Foundation. |
| A successful auction of donated items was held, including a Red Cedar coffee table from "The Nulla Collection", a painting of Slim's boyhood home by Betty Allman, a framed print of Slim, and accommodation vouchers for the Bong Bong Motel in Moss Vale with complimentary passes to the popular Bradman Museum in Bowral. |
| The $5000 donation was received at Bruce Woods property last Wednesday by Slim's widow Joy McKean. |

Ms McKean said the support of local business and the Kempsey community really hits home as to the impact her husband had on people through his music. "Local people are interested and supportive, which is where the strength of this project lives," she said.
"Once we get the site settled I believe that support will explode tenfold as people see something that has been a dream of so many for so long, begin to develop into reality.
"The support and participation of people like the Woods' and the Kempey West Rotary Club are keeping this dream alive, and I thank them for it." |

| Kempsey West Rotary Club president Brian Irvine said the idea was to not only raise money, but also to pay tribute to Slim for his life and what he did for Country Music. |
"The night was a great success, with a lot of excellent entertainment for all to enjoy,” he said. |
|
|
| Slim Dusty Foundation general manager, Kathryn Yarnold, congratulated Kempsey West Rotary Club on a well organised event and thanked the members for their tireless efforts, and the generosity of the participants on the night. |
"The turnout was fantastic with not only local faces, but people attending from all over New South Wales," Ms Yarnold said.
"It is actually very exciting to open your mind to the potential for the growth of this night as a strong, locally owned event." |
