UPDATE ON THE SLIM DUSTY CENTRE

For the Slim Dusty Centre project to copme to fruition, we have placed our trust in the generosity of our donors, and relied heavily upon the forward thinking attitudes of our Governments. Much to our delight, the value of the project and the esteem in which Slim Dusty is held within Australia amongst our community and government leaders, has been acknowledged by the granting in 2009 of significant funding. The following exciting progress steps have been achieved in the past year:

1. The announcement of pledged funding from the former Government for $6 million has now been supported by the incoming Federal Government, with final documentation currently being put into place.

2. Funding has been received from the State Government in May 2008 for $1.5 million.

3. On June 13, the Slim Dusty Foundation's annual fundraising event was held in Sydney at the Westin Hotel. This date would have been Slim's 81st birthday. The event titled "Many Happy Campfires" was a resounding success with high profile performer, politicians and dignitaries attending the night with MC Ray Hadley OAM.

4. It is now all systems go as we anticipate issuing tender by June 1, 2009.

5. With construction imminenet, the Slim Dusty Foundation will be seeking Exclusive Sponsorhip for some of our Internal Displays so if you or anyone you know are interested in becoming involved, please contact the Slim Dusty Foundation on (02) 6562 6533 or freecall 1800 18 SLIM.

We thank you for joining us on this tremedous journey to fulfil the dream of our great Australian Legen and mate, Slim Dusty, and look forward to keeping you in touch with our momentous developments on our road to success.

LOOKING BACK ....on the life of a legend.
