Dr Head confirmed that he and his company were proud to be associated with the project, saying:
‘We obviously recognise Slim Dusty as an outstanding icon — not only in Australia but in the Kempsey area that is so strongly associated with him.
‘We’re very keen to look at all prospects to be involved with the Slim Dusty Foundation and its plans to create the Slim Dusty Centre.
‘While we’re still at the early stages, with details yet to be finalised, our company is certainly approaching it in a very positive way and looking forward to ongoing involvement with the project.’ |

Australian Solar Timbers (formerly Kempsey Timbers) has been family-owned since 1919 and has operated continuously in the NSW hardwood industry for over 80 years.
‘We’re the world’s largest solar kiln drying operation for timber.’ says Dr Head. ‘We dry timbers in an environmentally friendly way mindful of the need to minimise greenhouses gases.’

|
Australian Solar Timbers sources its timbers from public and privately owned forests.
The company strives to produce flooring of natural excellence –this has been acknowledged in many ways including by the Australian Timber Industry Certification system which awarded AST the trophy for quality flooring in NSW.
Dr Head said his company was keen to be associated with the Slim Dusty Centre as it represented a quality concept.
The company’s strong support for the Slim Dusty Centre is typical of their involvement with, and support of, the Kempsey community and beyond.
|
Director of the Slim Dusty Foundation, Cr Janet Hayes is extremely pleased with this recent announcement.
“Australian Solar Timbers is one of the most highly regarded companies, not only in the Macleay area, but of national and international acclaim. I am delighted that Dr Douglas Head has agreed to join the growing list of supporters within our Shire.”

The Slim Dusty Foundation Ltd, Trustee of the Slim Dusty Museum Trust Fund, has been formed to plan, build and operate the Slim Dusty Centre: a major tourist attraction of national significance in Slim Dusty’s birthplace, Kempsey, NSW.
It will encompass a museum and cultural centre, depicting the life and achievements of Slim and the way his music always reflected the changing face of Australia.
Donations small and large, public or corporate, are all welcome, tax deductible and essential to getting the centre built.
The Slim Dusty Centre will not only be a major attraction for country music fans but also relates to Australian history and bush heritage.
It will strongly reflect Slim’s close affinity with truckies, indigenous Australia, rural Australia and city folk alike.
