The Nulla Nulla Regional Gallery proudly presents Ornament, a new solo exhibition by award-winning Mid North Coast artist Sarah Mufford. Known for her precise and richly patterned geometric abstractions, Mufford brings an immersive installation and a striking series of large-scale paintings to the gallery.

Inspired by travels through Southeast Asia, Iran, India and Southern Spain, Mufford’s work explores the cultural language of ornament and how pattern and architecture shape our experience of space. For this exhibition, she has created a custom wallpaper installation that expands her paintings into the gallery environment, offering visitors a dynamic visual encounter.

Ornament is a significant milestone for the gallery—celebrating a highly accomplished local artist, supporting new work through the Arts Mid North Coast 2025 Country Arts Support Program, and showcasing contemporary abstraction in a fresh, ambitious way.

About the Artist

Sarah Mufford is an award-winning Australian artist whose practice blends intuitive mark-making with hard-edge geometry. Trained at the ANU School of Art and UTS, she has exhibited nationally for more than 30 years, with accolades including finalist selections in The Alice Prize, Libris Awards, Hazelhurst Art on Paper, and more. Her research and residencies across Europe and Asia continue to shape her unique visual language.
